Parametric optimization of an oil pan with automatic process chain Pro/E - ANSYS Workbench - optiSLang
During this project, Dynardo could improve the vibration properties of an oil pan by applying parametric optimization. Using CAD parameters directly for optimization, the intermediate step of converting 'optimized' designs in the CAD environment can be skipped. Furthermore, a robustness evaluation of optimized designs regarding manufacturing tolerances or material scatter can be performed.
A parameterizable design was created using the bead construction tool Pro / E. For the automatic generation of new designs, meshing and calculation of a modal analysis, the CAE program ANSYS Workbench was used. Then, optiSLang created new designs for sensitivity studies, optimization and robustness evaluation, which were analysed by the automated process chain.
